Mifflin County fire that killed 81-year-old woman ruled accidental, ‘electric in nature’ | News, Sports, Jobs

The fire that killed 81-year-old Lois Breon and destroyed the home she shared with her son at 226 Zinck Road in Mifflin County Wednesday morning was ruled accidental, according to the state police fire marshal’s office.

Fire “electrical in nature” one fire chief said in a news release. While his son was recovering from the 4:30 a.m. fire, Breon collapsed in his bedroom. Breon was rescued by firefighters and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead from smoke inhalation.

Smoke inhalation also killed 56-year-old Lori Toner, who died in an unrelated fire at her mobile home on West Emerys Church Road in Woodward Township around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday. Fire officials said careless smoking caused this fire.

Williamsport fire investigators are still investigating the incident at 2224 Newberry St. A fire broke out at a home at 2226 Newberry St. around 8:10 a.m. Wednesday morning. is trying to determine the cause of the fire that damaged the other half of the duplex at and left two families homeless.
