Niagara Wheatfield football player taken to hospital after hard blow

SANBORN, N.Y. (WKBW) β€” A high school football player remains hospitalized after being injured in a game against Williamsville North High School last week.

Logan Senik, 17, plays for the Niagara Wheatfields. Logan was hit hard during the struggle, suffering internal bleeding and other injuries, his mother, Danielle, told me Friday.

Danielle said she knew immediately that her son was injured.

β€œIt was terrible,” he told me. “It was obvious this wasn’t good, so I ran out onto the field. She was screaming and I was like, she’s not okay, she’s not okay, and everybody’s saying relax mom, relax.”

Danielle said her son was in so much pain he couldn’t talk, and after going to a hospital, he eventually ended up at ECMC.

“It was like we were calling an ambulance… his kidneys are bleeding… he’s got a pretty serious rupture and he’s at risk of losing his kidney,” Danielle said.

This all happened the day after Logan’s 17th birthday.

“I don’t think he’s 17 and he can’t lose his kidney,” Danielle said.

The mother of four continues to work but said she would rather be with her son in the hospital.

Danielle said they are grateful for all the support and are asking people to pray for Logan.

“He’s got a long road ahead of him. He really does. He’s a very strong kid. He’s going in the right direction,” Danielle told me.
