3 convicted of killing father at NJ youth football practice

Three people were convicted Murder of a father at youth football practice in 2018 In South Jersey.

Eugene Cosby, 48, of Malaga, Will El-Bey, 28, of Vineland, and Clifton Bailey, 33, of Camden, were found guilty by a jury of murder and other charges in the fatal shooting in Cumberland County. The prosecutor’s office said.

The attack occurred around 8 p.m. on August 9, 2018, at Lakeside Middle School in Millville. The victim, 37-year-old Joseph Jones, shot by a masked gunman Authorities said that as the practice ended, 10 incidents occurred in the school parking lot.

The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office did not identify the masked attacker when announcing the jury’s verdict on Thursday.

Prosecutors said parents and children witnessed the shooting while returning to their cars from the field.

After the attack, Cosby and Bailey abandoned the vehicles used in the crime, authorities said. Cosby and El-Bey too Conspiring with others to provide false information prosecutors told investigators.

It took investigators nearly three months to identify and arrest the three men.

Evidence uncovered during the investigation included phone and text message conversations regarding the murder plan and a 9 mm Glock pistol found during a search of El-Bey’s home and believed to have been used in the attack.

They will all be sentenced on January 10.
