Evansville girl surprised with Taylor Swift tickets at Riley Children’s Hospital

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A young Evansville girl receiving treatment at Riley Children’s Hospital got a big surprise.

Seven-year-old Ja’isaibella Boyd and her family were among the first to attend Riley’s sickle cell telemedicine clinic in 2018.

Izzy says her love of music has helped with her health issues.

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that leads to life-limiting complications.

Thanks to a collaboration with the Riley Children’s Foundation and Lora Denney of Denney Excavating, Izzy and 15 other patients learned they could get suite tickets for the sold-out Taylor Swift Eras Tour.

The announcement took place during a Taylor Swift-inspired event at the hospital on Wednesday.

Patients gathered to make friendship bracelets and play “Taylor Trivia.”

The final trivia question revealed the big surprise.

“Who will be at Taylor’s final show on the last leg of her US tour in Indianapolis on Sunday?” they were asked.

“So…Travis Kelce?” I guessed a patient.

“NO. You will all leave!” they were told.

Many had tears streaming down their faces. Others jumped up from their chairs.

Izzy’s mother, DeAndria Powell, says “Shake it Off” is a song they often sing when Izzy gets a spell of pain.

He says that they have never experienced anything like this before and that he and Izzy can’t wait to see Taylor Swift.
