Why is Cow & Sow opening in Birmingham?

Founder Mark Warburton, who has two original sites in Bristol, was determined to open his third restaurant in Birmingham and admits he jumped at the chance when he was offered space in Paradise. “It has been my dream to expand outside of Bristol and I have had my eye on Birmingham for a long time.

“I’m excited to be opening in Paradise and can’t wait to show the people of Birmingham what we have to offer. “The city has a thriving food scene, but I’m confident Cow & Sow will prove to be one step ahead of them.”

Growing up in a country pub, Mark has lived and breathed hospitality since childhood. His parents and grandparents ran pubs and his uncle had his own Bristol brewery; Hospitality was undoubtedly in his blood.

Another groundbreaking development is that the company is now B Corp certified, Mark says: “When I founded Cow & Sow three years ago, I wanted to build a brand to be proud of and take teams on an exciting and meaningful journey.

“For me, this had to be done through B Corp. As a steakhouse business, this would have been a challenge, but I knew we were doing great things for people and the planet. We were engaging with suppliers, ensuring the sourcing and sustainability of our products. As a team, we were collectively reviewing our environmental impact and we share ideas to reduce our carbon footprint across the board. This has always been more than just a steak restaurant brand, and I wanted to continue and strive to be a force for good.

“I see this turning point as a door opening. The real work starts now! “We promise to put purpose before profit, but B Corp demands that you continue to do so and continually strive to do better.”

‘Incredibly proud’

Managing Director Jordan Stewart, who previously worked at Birmingham Hotel Du Vin and many other prestigious venues in the city, said: “I am incredibly proud to be at the helm of this exciting brand in Birmingham; This is a great opportunity for me. “As neighbors, we have a good relationship with many other great brands here in Paradise.”
