How would you describe the past year of marriage?

It is full of adventure and safety at the same time. It’s truly amazing how much we can do by having a good time together. David and I have aligned our lives together and I feel like we have accomplished a lot. We just had so much fun and it was amazing to be loved and loved. It was truly magnificent. (Since their marriage, the couple has traveled to the Dominican Republic and Haiti and opened an Airbnb in Moab, Utah.)

The traditional first anniversary gift is paper. What did you two exchange?

I bought some vintage shirts to wear to Disneyland. Mine said, “My Husband Is My Superhero,” and hers said, “My Favorite Villain Is My Wife,” and it had Malificent on it.

I collect nutcrackers, so he bought me four nutcrackers and they are all beautiful! Like a wizard and a Jack and Sally The Nightmare Before Christmas And then an Irishman… and a Thanksgiving man.

How did you celebrate your anniversary?

There is a restaurant we like to go to. Then all the leaves started changing in Utah, so we went on a beautiful road trip through the mountains.

How was your first date with David?

Our first date was his birthday. (It was) definitely fun. We found this great restaurant and had our first dirty martini together. Neither of us had ever had a martini before, and then we had some oysters, and he had never had oysters before. I feel like there are so many things that are first for us, we researched together.

When did you realize David was OO?

On our third date. I put my head on your chestand when I heard his heartbeat it synchronized with mine. I felt like I took my first breath. It caught me off guard.

What does a typical date night look like now that you’re married?

When we go on a date or something, I think we always try something a little adventurous. What we love most is our morning coffee together. Or when we get home from work, we relax and sit in the kitchen while I prepare dinner and talk about our days.

More than anything, I love all the simple things we do. That’s a lot of security and a lot of simplicity. I don’t know our favorite date. We had so many great times.

What was it like watching your early dates air? Sister Wives?

It was so fun to see our show through David’s eyes. He gets excited but also (asks): “Why am I wearing that shirt?” It’s really sweet.

Was David hesitant to join the program?

He’d rather not… (but) he supports me. He’s just realizing that this is my life. But I said: “You know, if you don’t want to do it, then you don’t have to do it.” But he spent his time in a very kind and gentle way. I am truly, truly grateful that he is forever willing.

Was it difficult to adjust to a monogamous relationship?

The day before we moved in together, I was a little worried. I’ve never lived with a man full time before. But we started life with each other.

I didn’t know that we could achieve and do everything we wanted to do, but better than we did before. It’s mind-blowing how having someone there to support you makes you a better person. It’s extraordinary for me.

You have a large, blended family, but have you encountered any obstacles in reuniting your children?

The only thing I wish was that when she saw me trying on my wedding dress, I wish her daughters were there too. They are that important. I want them with everything. I want them to be involved in everything.

It was really cool how everything came together. They are incredible with their child Truely. They just took to her and are hanging out with her and having great conversations with her and she is completely comfortable around all of them. (Actually 14, Christine’s youngest child.)
