Cade Klubnik puts Clemson back in position to make the CFP

After an embarrassing 34-3 loss to Georgia in week one, there aren’t many teams playing better football right now than the Clemson Tigers.

Since the loss in Week 1, the Tigers have won six straight and are ranked No. 11 in the country. Point guard Cade Klubnik has a big share in this success.

Klubnik, a five-star recruit out of high school, is in his second season as Clemson’s starter. As a freshman in 2022, Klubnik was DJ Uiagalelei’s backup and became the starter after Uiagalelei entered the transfer portal.

Klubnik saw limited action in 2022, including replacing Uiagalelei in the ACC Championship game and leading Clemson to a victory over North Carolina. Klubnik then started the Orange Bowl against Tennessee in a 31-14 loss to the Vols.

in it first full season Klubnik, the 2023 starter, led Clemson to a 9-4 record, but it hasn’t been a great year for the quarterback. He threw for less than 3,000 yards, including a couple of games in which he failed to pass for 200 yards, and there were only two games in which he went over 300 yards.

Klubnik also struggled with turnovers, making nine tackles and forcing five turnovers.
