Martin Freeman’s Feature Film ‘Flavia’ Sold to Sky in the UK

The upcoming feature film “Flavia,” about the family adventure of a precocious young detective, has been sold throughout Europe, including Sky in the United Kingdom.

Movie starring the “Hobbit” star Martin Freeman Starring Molly Belle Wright (“Deep Water”) as the eponymous detective Flavia, the duo began principal photography with the first footage showing the duo alongside Toby Jones (“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”) in a dusty library. It is planned to be completed in November.

Karan Gill (“Decameron”), Annette Badland (“Ted Lasso”) and Jonathan Pryce (“Slow Horses”) also stars.

“Flavia” is directed by Bharat Nalluri (“Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day”) and is based on Alan Bradley’s book series about 11-year-old amateur detective Flavia de Luce. Susan Coyne (“Daisy Jones and the Six”) adapted the screenplay

“When Flavia discovers a body in her decaying English mansion and her father is accused of murder, Flavia dives into her own wild and fearless investigation, uncovering long-kept family secrets and pitting herself against the real killer,” the logline reads.

Sky has acquired the UK rights with BIM for Italy, Cinemundo for Portugal, M2 for Eastern Europe and ACME for the Baltics. Rakuten acquired the rights to Japan and Echo Lake for airlines. Elevation will air in Canada.

Protaganist Pictures, which handles international sales, will also be at the fair. A.F.M. with the movie. CAA Media Finance is handling the film’s U.S. rights and arranging its financing.
