Man facing gun and drug charges in northern Alberta

A man is facing charges after he was arrested by Superior RCMP for allegedly forcing his girlfriend into confinement and physically assaulting her earlier this month.

On October 7, RCMP officers entered a residence where the couple was staying in an emergency and rescued the woman and arrested her partner.

A search warrant was executed at the home and police found seven weapons, including a restricted firearm, gun ammunition, suspected cocaine and a bulletproof vest.

The man was charged with:

  • seven counts of possession of a firearm;
  • possession of a firearm without a license or permit;
  • use of a firearm in commission of a crime;
  • forced confinement;
  • assault causing bodily harm;
  • attack; And
  • He makes threats.

The man was released on $500 cash bail with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at the Alberta Superior Court of Justice on Nov. 4.
