COVINGTON, Ky. (WXIX) – Driver found guilty He was sentenced Tuesday for killing a man in a December 2023 crash.

Kenton County Circuit Judge Patricia Summe sentenced the 42-year-old Christopher Jackson He was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Gordon Torline.

A grand jury in January found Jackson guilty of murder, DUI and other charges resulting in Torline’s death.

Jackson crashed into Torline’s vehicle on Industrial Road in Florence on December 22, 2023, around 4 p.m.

Officers found Jackson walking down the road near his Lincoln MKT and Torline unconscious under his Mazda sedan.

Emergency crews had to remove Torline from under the dashboard. After his release, he was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and later died from his injuries.

At the scene of the accident, officers noticed that Jackson smelled of alcohol, was slurring his words, and had difficulty following instructions.

Body camera footage shows Jackson failed a field sobriety test after the crash and cursed at the victim.

Prosecutors say Jackson’s BAC was .241, three times the legal limit in Kentucky.

In a joint investigation, Independence police and the Kenton County Police Department’s Serious Accident Reconstruction Team determined that Jackson struck a curb with his passenger tires before veering out of his lane.

Police said Jackson’s vehicle then crossed into the Torline lane, causing the crash.

Police also said Jackson was going 99 mph in a 45 mph zone.
