An electrician lost his life in a massive fire that broke out at a banquet hall in Sector 74, Noida, around 3 am on Wednesday. The banquet hall worth millions of rupees was reduced to ashes.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The fire was brought under control with the intervention of fire brigade and police teams.

Police said the fire broke out around 3.30 am at the “Lotus Grenadier” banquet hall near Sarfabad village under the jurisdiction of Sector-113 police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Rambadan Singh said fire personnel reached the spot around 3:40 am with five fire engines.

However, as the fire grew, 10 more fire trucks were dispatched to control the fire.

“Many people trapped inside were evacuated safely, but an electrician named Pravendra died in the fire,” Singh said.

Fire Chief Pradeep Kumar Chaubey said the mainly wooden structure of the hall contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. It took the ministry about three hours to bring the fire under control.

A fire broke out in the same banquet hall on November 21 last year.
