Latest developments on Gabriel, Timber, Calafiori and Odegaard | Team news | News

Mikel Arteta dropped the latest team news at his pre-Preston North End press conference on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Sobha Realty Training Center this week, he shared updates on a number of players, most notably Gabriel, who had to be substituted in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

“We’re still evaluating him, he doesn’t look bad at all,” Mikel explained. “It was much better than I expected, I hope it turns out well.”

Our manager also informed us about the availability of Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Martin Odegaard.

“Jurrien is fine,” he said. “He was very tired, he had been out for a while and couldn’t continue playing but there is no new injury there.

“I can say that (Riccardo) will be out of action for a few weeks.

“(Martin) has been on the grass for a few weeks but there are still a few boxes to tick. How quickly we can do the final phase of rehab is a question we’ll have to answer when we have players around us and he starts competing with the team, something he hasn’t done yet.

“Hopefully he’ll be back (before the international break), but we’ll have to see how things go.”

William Saliba, who served his one-match suspension at the weekend, is ready to be selected once again.
