UK prime minister thinks new laws will help publishers fight against unapproved AI data scraping

Almost since the World Wide Web became a household technology, print media companies have been engaged in a somewhat one-sided struggle with online publishers for readers and revenue. However, both are now facing the rise of generative AI curating their content for data training, often without permission or fee. The British prime minister wants competition in the digital market to be legalized to “rebalance the relationship” between online platforms and publishers, especially in light of the age of artificial intelligence.
