Pittsburgh Steelers’ star pass rusher had career night in win over Giants

PITTSBURGH– When Pittsburgh Steelersoutside linebacker had no star Alex Highsmith They lost two matches in three weeks. They had their two worst defensive performances of the season against the Dallas Cowboys and the Indianapolis Colts. But Highsmith’s return over the past two weeks has injected a passing offense and new life into the Steelers, who were stinging after losing Nick Herbig to a hamstring injury.

But on Monday, Highsmith went much further. Facing former Steelers offensive tackle Chris Hubbard For most of the game, Highsmith posted a career-high 12 pressures in the game. Not only did he create pressure, but Highsmith had six quarterback hits and two sacks to go with that impressive stat line. He did this down the right and left flanks and even lined up inside at some points in the game.

The duo, working with TJ Watt, had four sacks of Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

“That’s why I love how we work together. A lot of the time, like that game, we work together, making these plays. It was great,” Highsmith said. “Getting back-to-back sacks on that drive was great, too. We just have to keep building. I think it was a solid team effort.”

Highsmith continues to shine when given the chance to make plays. While he’s nothing like Watt on the receiving end, Highsmith has become a terror on most offensive tackles, and that was no different as the Steelers improved to 6-2.
