Baltimore police arrest suspect who killed 20-year-old man

BALTIMORE, MD — Police announced that a Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 20-year-old Tavin Cooper in the Southwest District earlier this month.

The incident occurred on Oct. 2, 2024, when Southwest District officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 2500 block of McHenry Street around 9:49 p.m. Officers arrived to find Cooper suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but did not survive his injuries.

Following investigation, detectives identified 33-year-old Dominic Felder as the suspect in Cooper’s death. Felder allegedly shot Cooper at close range in the McHenry Street area, according to police.

On October 24, Warrant detectives located Felder in the 300 block of South Catherine Street, where he was taken into custody without incident. Felder was later transported to the Central Booking Receiving Facility and formally charged with first-degree murder.

Felder is currently being held without bail pending further court proceedings.
