Charleston Co. school board to discuss cell phone policy and classroom materials

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – The Charleston County School District will meet on Monday to discuss several important updates.

Some of these include a new cell phone policy, classroom supply regulations, and the Union Pier Tax Increment Zone.

This will be the second and final reading of the classroom material regulations

This past summer, a new law went into effect requiring learning materials for all schools in South Carolina to be age- and developmentally appropriate.

The regulation allows the State Board of Education to have the final say in local disputes about what materials are appropriate in a classroom setting or after-school club.

The board approved the first reading, which included the majority of the policies, and will now vote on some of the more specific ones. If approved, the revisions will be implemented soon.
