Fire broke out after tractor trailer crashed into power lines in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. — A brush fire broke out in Suffolk on Monday after a tractor-trailer crashed into power lines, according to city officials.

Authorities say the incident occurred in the 1200 block of Portsmouth Boulevard, near the intersection of Boulevard and C Street.

Firefighters rescue 6 from home in Suffolk

Authorities said that around 14:40, the tractor trailer hit the power lines, causing the pole to break. This caused the lines to be pulled from the pole.

Officials said that many bush fires broke out due to the cutting of high voltage lines. Suffolk Police, Suffolk Fire and Rescue and Dominion Energy responded to the fires.

Two people were taken to hospital after a house fire in Suffolk

Officials said that the fire was brought under control around 15:00 and did not reach any buildings. No injuries were reported.

Just before 4 p.m., Dominion Energy said 391 people were without power following the incident.
