Mr. Ring was reported missing last week, and while an investigation to find him was ongoing, those efforts were halted when his body was found on Sunday. The dead man was last seen alive in Wexford town on Tuesday, October 15.

Mr Ring was left at the entrance to Ard na Dara, Clonard, Wexford, at around 2am when he was last seen alive. Gardaí suspect he was also attacked around the same time. A suspect known to the dead man was identified.

Searches were carried out last week and although gardaí and Mr Ring’s family were not arrested, a number of people were interviewed and there was growing concern for his welfare. No one had seen him and he had made no effort to access his money.

Some of those interviewed by gardaí to date have links to the local drug trade. At least one of the properties visited last week has been sealed pending search by gardaí.

A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were arrested and questioned at Co Wexford Garda station on Sunday. They were being detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows free interrogation for up to 24 hours.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been set up at Wexford Garda station, while a Garda family liaison officer has also been appointed to the victim’s family.
